Absolutely Devoted to You Filming Locations

Getting a beloved 1990s boy band back together sounds like a strong television stunt. For Kaitlin Thompson, it is also the idea that could finally earn her a promotion. Hallmark’s Absolutely Devoted to You follows the ambitious morning-show producer as she tries to reunite the fictional group Absolutely Yeah! for a summer beach event. Three former members are willing. Derrick Dane, the band’s once-famous lead singer, most definitely is not.

Kimberley Sustad plays Kaitlin opposite Jesse Metcalfe as Derrick, who has traded pop-star life for a quieter existence working at a Long Island community center. Their negotiations eventually become personal, giving the movie its familiar Hallmark mixture of career complications, music and romance. Director Stacey N. Harding filmed that New York-set story considerably farther west, using Victoria, British Columbia, as the production’s home.

Victoria, British Columbia

Victoria is the principal confirmed filming location for Absolutely Devoted to You. Harding lists the British Columbia capital as the movie’s production location, while additional reporting places the shoot there during the spring of 2026.

That means viewers looking at what appears to be New York and Long Island are actually seeing Vancouver Island. Victoria gives the filmmakers several useful looks within a relatively compact production area. There are established residential neighborhoods, heritage commercial streets, modern offices and, crucially for this story, a long coastal edge.

It is an especially practical combination for Absolutely Devoted to You, which needs to move between Kaitlin’s television career and Derrick’s deliberately less glamorous life without making those two worlds look as though they occupy the same few blocks.

Unlike some Hallmark productions, however, the movie has not generated a detailed public list of street addresses. No individual Victoria building has yet been officially identified as Kaitlin’s workplace, Derrick’s community center or either character’s home. Those properties should therefore remain unidentified rather than being matched to local buildings based only on appearance.

Victoria as New York

The fictional geography begins in New York City, where Kaitlin works as a segment producer for the morning program Merrie & Mason in the Morning. She wants its executive producer position, and the Absolutely Yeah! reunion becomes her increasingly high-stakes attempt to get it.

Victoria has to do something slightly unusual here. The filmmakers are not asking it to imitate only one New York neighborhood. It needs to suggest both metropolitan New York and the much calmer Long Island environment into which Derrick has disappeared.

The movie largely avoids making famous Manhattan landmarks essential to the story, which makes that substitution easier. Offices and carefully framed urban exteriors can establish Kaitlin’s professional world without requiring Times Square or the Empire State Building in every shot. Victoria’s architecture can then recede into a more general East Coast cityscape.

Some secondary reports have suggested that portions of downtown Victoria may have been used, but no individual downtown street, building or square has been publicly confirmed by the production.

Long Island Setting

Derrick’s side of the story needs a completely different atmosphere. After leaving Absolutely Yeah!, he retreats from celebrity and works as an activities director at a Long Island community center overseen by Lucille, played by Lynda Boyd. He also mentors a group of musically inclined teenagers preparing a variety-show fundraiser.

Victoria’s coastal character becomes particularly useful here. Waterfront scenery, quieter streets and greenery can suggest a Long Island community without the production having to leave British Columbia.

That contrast is important to the romance. Kaitlin arrives thinking about television bookings and career advancement, while Derrick has deliberately built a life around people who have little to do with his former fame. The physical move away from the city helps sell why he is so reluctant to be pulled back into the band.

The exact building used as Derrick’s community center has not been disclosed. Likewise, there is currently no verified address for his home or the spaces used for the teenagers’ rehearsals.

The Summer Beach Bash

The movie eventually brings its music storyline to the annual Summer Beach Bash, the television event for which Kaitlin is attempting to reunite Absolutely Yeah!. Hallmark’s official synopsis specifically makes the beach event the reason the band reunion matters in the first place.

Victoria and the surrounding southern Vancouver Island region have no shortage of waterfront scenery, but the actual beach used by the production has not been publicly named. That distinction matters. Several recognizable beaches surround Victoria, but assigning the movie to one of them without a production notice, crew confirmation or identifiable location evidence would be speculative.

What can be said confidently is that the production’s Victoria base gave Harding access to real coastal landscapes rather than forcing the movie’s summer setting entirely onto an indoor set.

When Was Absolutely Devoted to You Filmed?

Production reports place principal photography in April and May 2026, with the Hallmark movie completed several months ahead of its August premiere. Hairstylist Jolynn Mears was among crew members who later shared memories from working on the production.

The shoot was therefore completed during Victoria’s spring, even though the finished movie is designed around the warmer atmosphere of a summer beach celebration.

There is also an easy point of confusion worth clearing up. Sustad lives in Vancouver and has spoken about welcoming Hallmark colleagues to her home whenever productions bring them into the Vancouver area. That does not establish Vancouver as an Absolutely Devoted to You filming location. The available production information specifically identifies Victoria.
