Prime Video’s Sterling Point begins with an inheritance suited to a teenage daydream. Seventeen-year-old Annie Jacobson learns that the estranged grandfather she was never allowed to meet has died and left a remote Canadian island to her and her twin brother, Connor. Her attempt to investigate takes her from a carefully managed New York life into a world of old cottages, seaplanes, first love and family history that refuses to stay buried.
Created by Megan Park, the eight-episode drama is ultimately less interested in property than belonging. Annie reaches the island expecting an empty cottage and instead finds Ramona, another teenager who believes the place is part of her inheritance. Their collision opens the show’s mystery and its larger questions about adoption, grief and family. Prime Video released all eight episodes on August 5, 2026.
Where was Sterling Point Filmed?
Sterling Point is not a real island or municipality, but its surroundings are unmistakably Ontario. Most of the series was filmed in the Muskoka Lakes region, roughly two hours north of Toronto, with additional work in Toronto, Severn and Caledon. Park spent childhood summers in Muskoka and previously shot her film My Old Ass there.
That connection matters. The series treats cottage country as a culture, not decorative wilderness. Boats are transportation, marinas are social centers and old summer properties carry family history. Park has also discussed the friction between wealthy seasonal residents and the local workers who keep the region operating, a tension built into Ellis and his father’s story.
Muskoka Lakes Becomes Sterling Point
Muskoka supplies the show’s defining images: wooded shorelines, open water, island cottages and private docks. It is the geographical foundation for the fictional Sterling Point, and the production spent substantial time there instead of recreating the entire setting on a soundstage.

The location also shapes the storytelling. Annie has to travel by boat or seaplane, placing physical distance between her old life and the secrets she is pursuing. The lake is therefore more than a handsome backdrop. It determines how characters meet, where they gather and how isolated they can become.

Mortimer’s Marina
Mortimer’s Marina, also identified in location listings as Mortimers Point Marina, was used during the Muskoka shoot. The working marina sits on Lake Muskoka between Bala and Port Carling at 1930 Mortimers Point Road. Its history stretches back more than a century, and it serves boaters through fuel, storage, repairs and floatplane access.
The marina is also an official aerodrome with short-term floatplane docking, making it a natural fit for a story in which boats and aircraft are everyday necessities. Although no official scene-by-scene map has been published, the site’s inclusion helps explain why the series’ waterfront life feels practical rather than arranged solely for the camera.

Sparrow Lake Camp
Production also worked at Sparrow Lake Camp in Severn Bridge. The active summer camp has operated since 1912, while its Cabin Row contains original cabins built in 1927. The property includes a beach, recreation areas and more than two kilometers of shoreline on Sparrow Lake, part of the Trent-Severn Waterway.

Those weathered cabins and communal grounds bring the memory of classic Canadian camp life into a series built around one transformative summer. The camp is not an unrestricted tourist attraction. Its visitor policy does not allow uninvited guests, although arranged tours are available for families and groups.

Caledon Adds Rural Texture
Filming also took place in Caledon, with production reported at Forks of the Credit in August 2025. The provincial park is a 289-hectare natural-environment area west of Toronto, known for wooded trails and its Credit River landscape. It gives the show a different visual character from Muskoka’s broad lake views.
Forks of the Credit is open for day use, but visitors need a vehicle permit and advance reservations are recommended because parking is limited. The production has not publicly catalogued the exact scenes shot there, so assigning the park to a particular sequence would be speculation.

Toronto Handles the Production Base
Toronto served as the main production base. Ontario Creates listed Sterling Point as an Amazon Studios streaming series shooting from June 23 to October 7, 2025. That official schedule is more dependable than preliminary reports that gave a later October finish.
The cast worked between Muskoka and Toronto soundstages, combining real lake exteriors with controlled interior filming. A full breakdown of practical interiors and studio-built sets has not been released, but Toronto gave the eight-episode production the infrastructure needed to work through summer and into early autumn.
Sterling Point Cast
Ella Rubin leads as Annie Jacobson, the tightly wound teenager whose search for answers upends her planned future. Rubin previously appeared in The Idea of You, Fear Street: Prom Queen and Anora. Keen Ruffalo plays her more relaxed twin, Connor, following Hal & Harper and childhood cameos in Begin Again and Thor: Ragnarok.
Amélie Hoeferle co-stars as Ramona, who was raised at Sterling Point by her grandfather and initially sees Annie’s arrival as a threat. Hoeferle’s earlier credits include The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, Night Swim and Eddington.
Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie plays Ellis, the local who transports Annie by seaplane. Daniel Quinn-Toye is Rory, a wealthy New York visitor with history in Annie’s world, while Bo Bragason plays the bold Oona. Nikko Angelo Hinayo appears as Sully, and Mabel Strachan plays Maple, Oona’s younger sibling.

The adult cast gives the teen drama added weight. Jay Duplass plays Steven Jacobson, Annie and Connor’s widowed adoptive father, whose secrecy drives the story. Jeffrey Dean Morgan appears as Joe, Ellis’s father and a longtime local. Missi Pyle plays Rory’s mother, Denise, while Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers appears as Kate.
Sterling Point is Park’s first television series as creator, director and co-showrunner. She shares showrunning duties with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the team behind The O.C. and Gossip Girl. Prime Video also credits Aurora Guerrero and Andrew Ahn among the season’s directors.
The series was developed with LuckyChap and Fake Empire for Amazon MGM Studios. That blend of glossy teen-drama experience and filmmaker-led storytelling is visible throughout the show. Muskoka provides the fantasy, Mortimer’s Marina supplies working authenticity, Sparrow Lake Camp carries generations of summer memory, and Toronto gives the production control. Sterling Point may not exist on a map, but the life surrounding it plainly does.
