A marriage that once felt completely secure becomes the most frightening uncertainty in The Him I Knew. The Lifetime psychological thriller follows Melony and Luke Taylor, a married couple whose seemingly settled life is shattered when they survive a violent attack inside their home. The physical danger passes, but something more disturbing takes its place. After returning home, Melony begins noticing subtle changes in Luke, gradually forcing her to wonder whether trauma has altered the man she loves or whether she never truly knew him in the first place.
Directed by Rich Lowe, the 90-minute thriller was produced by Empire Reset Productions and premieres on Lifetime on August 9, 2026. Lowe and Segen Gebremariam are credited as writers, with Gebremariam also producing alongside Lowe and Lerry Kin. Rather than spreading its story across numerous cities, the production stayed close to home geographically as well as dramatically, filming in Atlanta, Georgia.
Atlanta, Georgia
Atlanta served as the primary filming location for The Him I Knew, with production using the city for both the Taylors’ domestic world and the outside locations that become increasingly important as Melony begins looking for answers. Publicly available production information points to real residential properties, streets and local businesses being incorporated into the shoot rather than the movie being constructed entirely on soundstages.
That choice suits the movie particularly well. The Him I Knew is not built around an exotic destination or a spectacular landscape. Its tension depends on recognizable places becoming uncomfortable. A house is supposed to represent privacy, a hospital should represent recovery and an ordinary neighborhood should feel safe. Once Melony stops trusting Luke, those familiar environments take on a different character.
Atlanta also gave the filmmakers access to a large local acting and production community. Several performers associated with the project are Atlanta-based, including Alyssa Renee Olson and Kameron Washington, while casting and crew notices for the film were circulated through the Atlanta production market.

The Taylor Home
The residence shared by Luke and Melony is the film’s most significant setting. Their violent encounter happens at home, and the couple later returns to that environment carrying the psychological consequences of what happened. Once Melony begins observing changes in her husband, rooms that previously represented their marriage become spaces where she studies him and questions what she is seeing.
Production reporting indicates that residential properties in the Atlanta area were used during filming, although the filmmakers have not publicly released the address of the house used as the Taylor residence. That is an important distinction for location fans. No credible public record currently identifies a specific Atlanta home as Luke and Melony’s house, so addresses circulating without confirmation should be treated cautiously.
The same applies to the neighborhood surrounding the residence. Behind-the-scenes material confirms the Atlanta production, but no individual subdivision or residential street has been formally identified by Empire Reset Productions. Unlike a movie that uses a famous hotel or courthouse, The Him I Knew deliberately keeps its geography ordinary and largely anonymous.
Atlanta Streets and Businesses
The story eventually pushes beyond the Taylor household as Melony’s suspicions deepen. Production made use of additional Atlanta streets and practical locations for exterior and interior material, including commercial spaces. These locations help prevent the thriller from feeling confined to one house even though Luke and Melony’s relationship remains its emotional center.
There is, however, little evidence that Atlanta’s major tourist attractions were themselves filming sites. Some location coverage has suggested that landmarks such as the Bank of America Plaza or Georgia Aquarium might be visible in establishing footage, but neither the production nor reliable location records have confirmed them as places where scenes were shot. It is therefore more accurate to credit Atlanta generally, along with its residential and commercial properties, than to manufacture a longer list of recognizable landmarks.
That smaller footprint also reflects the scale of the production. Empire Reset Productions made The Him I Knew as its second feature following Seven Miles from Forever, another project connected closely with Lowe and Gebremariam. Lowe handled an unusually broad collection of responsibilities on the new film, including directing, producing and editing.

When Was The Him I Knew Filmed?
Principal photography took place in late October and early November 2025. Production reporting places the start in the final week of October, with filming lasting less than two weeks before wrapping during the second week of November. On November 12, Lowe announced that the project had entered post-production and thanked the actors and crew who had helped complete the independent shoot.
Actor resumes also support that timeframe. Don Knill lists the production in October 2025, while Willow Shelley records her work on the movie in November. Lowe’s professional profile similarly dates his work on The Him I Knew across October and November 2025.
Keeping the schedule compact appears to have been part of the production’s independent character. Lowe later acknowledged that problems arose during filming but emphasized how the cast and crew adapted as the project moved toward completion.
The Him I Knew Cast
Giovanni DeVal leads the film as Luke Taylor, the husband whose behavior following the attack becomes increasingly troubling to Melony, while Segen Gebremariam plays Melony Taylor and also co-wrote and produced the movie. Brenna Skalski appears as Detective Jones, with director Rich Lowe stepping in front of the camera as Officer Philip Lockett. The supporting ensemble includes Alyssa Renee Olson as Aria, Kameron Washington as Taj, Nicole Pringle as a foster mother, Greg Brandenburg as Jeffery, Don Knill as Detective Ross, Zachary “ZM” Santana as Theo, Amber Abdul as Stacy and Cynethia Shoneye as Tasha. IMDb lists 19 performers in the completed cast, underscoring that the mystery extends beyond the central couple as Melony attempts to determine what really happened to the husband she thought she understood.
Atlanta Keeps the Thriller Grounded
The Him I Knew does not use Atlanta in the way a superhero movie might, with highways closing for enormous action scenes or skyscrapers announcing the city every few minutes. Its locations are intentionally more intimate. Homes, neighborhood streets, hospital-like interiors and everyday businesses create a world that initially feels unremarkable.
That anonymity works in the movie’s favor. Melony’s fear does not come from entering an obviously dangerous place. It comes from returning to the same home, the same husband and apparently the same life, only to discover that something no longer fits. Atlanta provides the ordinary surface the story needs, while the mystery underneath it does the unsettling work.
