Sixteen years after the last movie, Tyler Perry brings his long-running group of friends back together in Why Did I Get Married Again?, but this reunion looks very different from their earlier vacations. This time, Marcus and Angela are preparing for the wedding of their daughter Jasmine, who is marrying Wesley, the son of wealthy businesswoman Roselyn. The celebration takes the families away from home and into an elaborate destination wedding in Italy, where old problems soon begin surfacing alongside new ones.
The Italian setting is not simply movie magic. Why Did I Get Married Again? actually traveled to northern Italy for filming, with production using the Lake Como area before completing another major portion of the movie in Atlanta, Georgia. Production records identify Italy and Atlanta as the film’s two main filming regions.

Where Was Why Did I Get Married Again? Filmed?
Why Did I Get Married Again? was filmed in Cernobbio on Lake Como in Lombardy, Italy, and Atlanta, Georgia. The Italian portion included the real Villa Pizzo, while Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta served as the production’s American base.
Italy’s national film-location database provides particularly useful confirmation. Its production record states that filming took place in Cernobbio from September 29 to October 2, 2025. The production involved a 161-person crew and spent six shooting days in the Lombardy town.
After the Italian work, production continued in Atlanta. Reporting on the production indicates that the main Atlanta leg began at Tyler Perry Studios on January 7, 2026.
Cernobbio, Lake Como, Italy
Cernobbio provides the most important real-world setting seen in the movie. Located along the western shore of Lake Como, the town gave Perry exactly the kind of upscale destination-wedding environment required for Jasmine and Wesley’s celebration.
Netflix’s own material establishes Lake Como as the setting for the wedding, with the reunited characters traveling to Italy for the occasion.
Rather than recreating the entire event back in the United States, Perry brought the production to Cernobbio. The genuine lake, mountains, gardens and historic waterfront properties give those scenes a scale that would have been difficult to reproduce entirely on a soundstage.

The confirmed production dates also show that the Italian shoot was relatively concentrated. Cameras were active in Cernobbio from September 29 through October 2, making it a short but visually significant part of the overall production.
Villa Pizzo Was Used for the Wedding Scenes
The most specific filming location connected to Why Did I Get Married Again? is Villa Pizzo in Cernobbio.
Local newspaper La Provincia di Como reported during production that Villa Pizzo had become a set for the American film. The report specifically identified Why Did I Get Married Again? and noted preparations at the villa connected with filming, including authorization for fireworks.

Villa Pizzo sits directly beside Lake Como and contains extensive gardens, terraces and waterfront spaces. Those surroundings fit naturally with the film’s wealthy families and elaborate wedding weekend, particularly once Roselyn and the younger generation become part of the story.

The location is important because viewers are not simply seeing a generic Italian villa inserted into the background. At least part of the wedding environment was photographed at a genuine Lake Como estate.

Was the Entire Movie Filmed in Italy?
No. Although Lake Como provides the movie with its most recognizable scenery, the production did not remain in Italy for the entire shoot.
After completing the international location work, filming continued in Atlanta, Georgia, where Tyler Perry has his primary production operation. Film-industry listings identify both Italy and Atlanta as production locations, while reports place the later filming period at Tyler Perry Studios.
This combination allowed the filmmakers to use real Italian scenery for the destination wedding while handling other material in a more controlled production environment in Georgia.
Tyler Perry Studios, Atlanta, Georgia
Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta served as the principal American production base for Why Did I Get Married Again?.
The Atlanta filming reportedly began on January 7, 2026, several months after the Lake Como portion.
Studio filming would have allowed Perry and his crew to handle interior material and scenes that did not require the actual Italian landscape. It also fits Perry’s established production model, with his Atlanta facility serving as the center of many of his film and television projects.

For audiences, however, Lake Como is likely to remain the movie’s defining location. By filming the wedding in and around Cernobbio, including Villa Pizzo, Why Did I Get Married Again? gives the returning characters a noticeably grander backdrop for a reunion that quickly proves that beautiful surroundings cannot keep marital drama away.
