Hallmark’s “Much About Love” gives Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” a present-day romantic makeover. Bea Bishop is a successful television director who returns to her hometown and the theater community where she started her career. Her homecoming puts her back in the path of Benny Gersten, an old flame and former stage partner, just as a Shakespeare festival is getting underway. Ashley Williams and Niall Matter lead the film, directed by Shamim Sarif.

The production found nearly everything it needed in London, Ontario, where historic houses, parks, a market and a real storybook-themed attraction could all become pieces of Bea’s theatrical hometown. Ontario Creates confirms that filming took place under the working title “Nothing But Love” from April 27 to May 15, 2026.

Where was Much About Love Filmed?

London, Ontario

London serves as the main backdrop for “Much About Love,” rather than merely standing in for a few exterior scenes. The production moved between several real properties across the city, allowing the fictional Shakespeare festival to feel like something rooted in an established community. Hallmark’s finished film therefore mixes elegant heritage buildings with markets, green spaces and more playful festival locations.

It was also a fairly compact production. Ontario Creates lists London as the shoot location and gives the official filming window as April 27 through May 15, 2026. The movie was produced by Muse Entertainment with Dominic Ewenson listed as producer, while Shamim Sarif directed.

Elsie Perrin Williams Estate

The Elsie Perrin Williams Estate at 101 Windermere Road West was used for the Shakespeare festival offices. The property is one of London’s surviving historic estates, with a large main residence surrounded by extensive grounds. Its formal rooms and old-fashioned character work naturally for an organization devoted to staging Shakespeare.

The estate has its own notable history. The current main house dates to the early 20th century and is known for its Spanish-inspired architecture, while the property also includes an older gate house and wooded parkland. The estate was eventually left to the City of London and is now managed as a heritage property.

Marienbad Restaurant and Chaucer’s Pub

One of the film’s most fitting locations is Marienbad Restaurant and Chaucer’s Pub at 122 Carling Street. Production reports identify the property as the location transformed into the fictional Ye Olde King’s Tavern. For a Shakespeare-centered romance, a real pub called Chaucer’s was an unusually convenient find.

The building itself dates back to the 19th century. It originally housed the London Free Press and later operated as the Queen’s Hotel before becoming associated with the Marienbad restaurant. Its older European atmosphere meant the filmmakers did not need to completely rebuild the setting to make it look suitable for Bea’s theatrical hometown.

Grosvenor Lodge

Grosvenor Lodge at 1017 Western Road was used for scenes connected with the festival’s costume operation. That is another location where the real architecture helps sell the movie’s theatrical setting. The white-brick heritage home dates to 1853 and includes period interiors, stained glass, fireplaces and landscaped grounds.

The property was originally built for Samuel Peters and his wife, Ann, and remains one of London’s notable historic houses. Its traditional appearance makes it especially appropriate for a movie in which contemporary characters spend much of their time rehearsing and dressing for Shakespeare.

Covent Garden Market

Downtown London’s Covent Garden Market at 130 King Street also appears in “Much About Love.” The production used the market for scenes that bring Bea and the other characters into the everyday life surrounding the festival rather than keeping the entire movie confined to rehearsal halls and historic properties. Location reports specifically connect the market with the Hallmark shoot.

The real Covent Garden Market has operated in London since 1845 and remains an active food and community destination. It includes permanent merchants as well as an outdoor farmers’ market and regular public events. That activity gives the film a convincing small-city festival atmosphere without requiring crowds and storefronts to be created from scratch.

Gibbons Park

The production also used Gibbons Park at 2A Grosvenor Street for outdoor festival material. With trails, open lawns and mature trees, the riverside park provides the kind of casual public space that fits naturally around a summer Shakespeare celebration. It adds greenery to a movie otherwise filled with stages, costumes and heritage interiors.

Gibbons Park is one of London’s established recreation areas, with walking paths, sports facilities, picnic spaces and an outdoor pool. Its broad lawns give the production room for festival scenes without making the setting feel overly polished or artificial. The City of London lists the park at 2A Grosvenor Street.

Storybook Gardens

Perhaps the most distinctive location is Storybook Gardens at 1958 Storybook Lane, inside Springbank Park. The attraction was used to represent the Summer Shakespeare Festival, making its fairy-tale buildings and colorful grounds some of the movie’s most recognizable scenery. Lindura has also discussed filming there while talking about her work on “Much About Love.”

Storybook Gardens opened in 1958 and was designed around fairy tales and nursery rhymes. Today it includes play areas, rides, gardens, a castle entrance and seasonal entertainment. In a romantic comedy built around people performing Shakespeare and rediscovering old feelings, its slightly fantastical appearance fits surprisingly well.

“Much About Love” ultimately makes strong use of London rather than hiding it behind generic Hallmark interiors. The estate becomes festival headquarters, an old pub becomes Ye Olde King’s Tavern, a historic mansion houses costumes, and a children’s storybook attraction becomes Shakespeare’s stage. Those real locations give Bea’s return home the warmth the story needs while making the festival feel considerably larger than a single movie set.
